We were near the top of a fun route on a cliff called Gozzi, which is right next to the port town of Ajaccio. With the Mediterranean sea in the background, this was an enjoyable All-saints holiday climbing trip. Had a swim in the morning and were now climbing the beautifully sculpted rock.
Saule ignored me laughing at her question and quickly joined me at the belay. Before starting up the next pitch she mentioned 'seafood for dinner'.
That was the theme for the week. Brilliant climbing, good food and enjoyable sea. After a few days in Gozzi, we also checked out the Bavella pass - the climbing was as good as it gets on crazy wind-blown granite flakes, slabs and ... gargoyles. On one long day we ticked the two classics - Jeef and Le dos de l'elephant. In the end we also visited the beautiful east coast and clipped some bolts on limestone there. What a fantastic island - a well-deserved place on the 'to come back to' list.
